The latest addition in the WWE2K franchise is back for both PC and PS4. It's released on October 13th, but until then, you can get your hands on the game free in offline mode It features a new story campaign that will take you through 20 years in gaming history with plenty of great matches. There are also 12 additional playable wrestlers already available within the game to try out. Additionally, if you're looking for a quick fix before launch day arrives or just want to play casually because it's free, there are 6 trial modes to learn the ropes of how to wrestle online with up-to-eight other players. The game runs on the same engine as previous entries, but now has the ability to run live-streams for larger events. This is currently only available on PS4, however, if you are an Xbox One user, there will be a separate function to broadcast the gameplay later. WWE 2K16 received "generally unfavorable reviews" according to review aggregator Metacritic. Critics praised the frequent use of appearances of WWE personnel in addition to entrances by wrestlers. Complaints covered graphics, including some textures which could create graphical glitches on certain hardware configurations. The game was criticized for its realism-oriented gameplay system that included no real interactivity between gamers playing the game online through party connections or split-screen. Reviewers also noted that the options to customize the characters had been ignored, with games being more about talking to other wrestlers for a cutscene. GameSpot's Carolyn Petito wrote that the game's "charismatic wrestling superstars" and "excellent crowd reactions" make it easier to suspend disbelief during fights. Giving the game a score of 5/10, Petito said that the "random, unscripted fights" and "no mode to gain control of the WWE Universe" hamper it from being a great game. WWE 2K16 was nominated for "Worst Game", but lost to Grand Theft Auto V On Metacritic, the game has an average score of 66 out of 100. Critical reception to WWE 2K17 received generally favorable reviews. IGN gave the game 8.5 out of 10 saying that it is "more polished than ever before. Everything you love is here, and it's better than ever." Giant Bomb gave it an IGN Editor's Choice Award. GameSpot gave the game 9.0 out of 10 saying that "WWE 2K17 is not only the best wrestling game in years, but also one of the best sports games of all time."
